For the third day of our 2nd annual Volunteer Week, four of our agents dedicated their morning to volunteering at the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in Menands. Pictured from left to right in the above photo is Commercial Account Manager Benjamin Daniels, Account Manager Alexis Sawyer, Account Manager Sarah Audi, and Commercial Account Manager Steven Jankowski.
The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society (MHHS) is the oldest and largest animal protection organization in the Capital Region. MHHS provides shelter, care, and services for stray, abused, and unwanted animals, ranging from cats, dogs, rabbits, to guinea pigs. MHHS also provides services for animals such as neutering, vaccination, training/education classes, as well as providing a food pantry. Last year, 2,136 pets were adopted total!
MHHS is a new organization to our Volunteer Week this year. While it was Northeastern Insurance’s first-time volunteering here, several of our employees volunteer on an individual basis during their free time throughout the year. The organization has a program called Empties for Animals, which is a bottle recycling program where people can donate their empty bottles and cans. Each year, Empties for Animals raises nearly $200,000 to benefit and care for the animals. Our team of agents were put right to work! They sorted through thousands of donated bottles and cans and then loaded up the delivery trucks.
Volunteering at the MHHS was a first for our agency and team members, but nonetheless it still had an impact on our team. “I had a great time volunteering with my colleagues at the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society and giving back to the community”, Account Manager Alexis Sawyer said when asked about her experience volunteering with the organization.
