Volunteer Week Day 4

Our group participated in the Love is Served Program.

About the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region

Established in 1982, the Ronald McDonald House is a non-profit organization located in Albany, where it has served more than 17,000 families worldwide. This local organization provides housing to families with children battling serious medical conditions. These families can stay here free of charge and receive home-cooked meals, along with fully furnished rooms stocked with supplies during their stay. The goal is to provide comfort during their tough times at their home away from home. The non-profit also runs programs out of the Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at Albany Med, Krantz Cottage in Lake George, and the NICU at Albany Med.

Our Volunteer Work

Our team spent the day preparing dinner and dessert for the Ronald McDonald’s Love is Served program- where groups can provide home-cooked meals for the families staying in the House, completely free of charge. For dinner, Jared Lozier, Mara Kimball, Mike Felitte, and Cassidy McLaughlin cooked BBQ chicken, baked beans, corn bread, oven-baked fries, and coleslaw. For dessert, Daphne Braun and Jessica Dupuis baked cupcakes and brownies for the families. The meals helped feed 20-30 families that were staying in the House.

Impact on Our Team

Our team had a wonderful time volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House. “It was such a rewarding experience volunteering for an amazing organization in our community,” said Marketing Director Daphne Braun. “We are grateful that we’re able to provide a home cooked meal to these families while their children are fighting illnesses. Knowing it can provide some comfort and make them feel more at home while they get healthy is an amazing feeling.”

Previous Volunteer Work

Northeastern Insurance has worked with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region for several years. Last year during our first Volunteer Week, our group participated in the Love is Served Program and cooked dinner and dessert for the families staying in the House. In the Fall of 2022, our agency organized a $15,000 donation to the Ronald McDonald House. Our agency had won the Make More Happen Award with our partners Safeco and Liberty Mutual, earning a $10,000 donation. Our company donated an additional $5,000 on top of that. In previous years, Northeastern Insurance has also donated several gifts, including a brand-new Play Station, XBOX, TVs, and more for the Toy Room located in the House for the residing families to use in their free time. Northeastern Insurance is excited to continue volunteering and working with the Ronald McDonald House again in the future.
