Regional Food Bank- Last Day of Volunteer Week!
For the final day of our 3rd Annual Volunteer Week, our team members worked at the Regional Food Bank in Latham. Our volunteers included Robert Venezio, Alan Kholstinin, Michael Venezio, Samantha Quinn, Mara Kimball, Olivia Martuscello and Daphne Spensieri.
About the Regional Food Bank:
The organization was established in June 1982 by a dedicated group of food pantry coordinators and anti-hunger advocates. This nonprofit organization collects donated food and essential goods to help feed neighbors in need across 23 counties in Northeastern New York. Each month, their efforts help provide food for over 350,000 people. With a mission to end hunger, prevent food waste, and support the communities they serve, the Regional Food Bank continues to lead a powerful network of individuals and organizations working together to make a lasting impact. The local headquarters and warehouse is located at 965 Albany Shaker Rd, Latham, NY 12110.
Our Volunteer Work:
To conclude our 3rd Annual Volunteer Week, our team spent the final day at the Regional Food Bank, where we helped organize and sort a variety of donated food items. Working efficiently as an assembly line, we separated goods into categories such as snacks, granola bars, candy, pantry staples, baking supplies, condiments, paper products, fruits, and more. Once sorted, the items were carefully packed into boxes, sealed, and prepared for distribution. Through strong teamwork and coordination, we helped ready countless boxes to be delivered to communities in need—making a meaningful end to a week of giving back.
Previous Volunteer Work:
Last year, our team was responsible for packing donated food that was already pre-sorted into shipping boxes. The items were packed into 40-pound boxes with a balanced variety of brands, then securely sealed for delivery. We successfully prepared dozens of boxes for distribution to organizations in need across New York.
Additionally in July 2024, Northeastern Insurance donated $10,000 to the Regional Food Bank. The agency was a Make More Happen Award winner for the 2nd time with our partner carrier Liberty Mutual/Safeco. Northeastern Insurance was just 1 of 37 agencies nationwide to receive the award for our continued commitment to nonprofits in the community.
Impact on Our Team:
Our team truly had a great time volunteering at this organization for the third year in a row. “Volunteering at the Food Bank was a powerful reminder of how even a few hours of our time can make a real difference. Seeing our team come together to support such an important cause was truly inspiring,” said Marketing Director Daphne Spensieri. We look forward to continuing our partnership for many years to come.
